I had a fairly quiet Christmas and New Year and didn’t overindulge too much but I didn’t really do that much exercise either. I did wander along the canal path to see my sister on New Year’s Day but that’s a fairly short walk. The forecast for the 2nd was great and I decided I would take my favourite walk along the Water of Leith Walkway. The walkway starts at Balerno and runs all the way to Leith Docks a distance of 21km. I have walked the entire thing but not all at once and usually join it just after Murrayfield and walk to The Botanic Gardens or stop off at Stockbridge.
I had arranged to meet Alan for a New Year’s pint at The Stockbridge Tap.
The first part of the walk isn’t particularly picturesque as I have to walk through part of Gorgie to get to the Roseburn cycle path at Russell Road but once on the path it’s wonderful. We spent an hour or so in the Tap and then walked up to Kay's Bar in Jamaica Street and it will come as no surprise that we ended up getting a bus up to Victoria Street and The Bow Bar.
